The historic location of Nuremberg and the Documentation Centre Nazi Party Rally Grounds give teachers the opportunity of exploring important aspects of the "Third Reich" with their classes. Here, history may be experienced at first hand, and this historic location with all its manifold dimensions may be used extensively.
Groups of teachers and other networkers, during individually adapted information events may look at the topic of learning in this historic location. Possible focuses include the history of the Nazi Party Rally Grounds, the Party Rallies themselves, the exhibition concept and the educational programme offered by the Education Forum.
In addition, any of the programmes listed under "Educational Programme" may be booked as in-service training events. Teachers and networkers thus may get an insight into the methodological and historical work of both the Education Forum and the permanent exhibition. They may develop ideas of topics which might be usefully explored in this authentic historic location and can thus make their planning for the class visit more efficiently.
The questions discussed might include the following:
The groups are asked to voice their interests very clearly before the visit and agree on focus topics. There are separate programmes for teachers for special exhibitions.
In addition, accompanying material for teachers and networkers is available at the museum's ticket office. Besides the exhibition catalogue, there are various publications dealing with the history of the Party Rally Grounds in more or less thorough treatments, as well as a CD-ROM created specifically for teachers, including material which may be useful for the preparation of the visit to the Documentation Centre.
